Pucara Pucara

Pucara

The small village of Pucara is located at 60 km from Juliaca, on the way between Titicaca Lake and the city of Cusco. It has the same name as the first civilizations who lived in the Altiplano; it has an important ceremonial center of the Inca period, overhanging the village. Pucara is renowned because of the small bulls made with terracotta that are placed on the roofs of the houses to attract good fortune at home: the torito of Pucara. There are also very beautiful ceramics and a nice museum that presents the Pucara civilization.
